Job Description

Freightliner Northwest is now accepting applications for a Body Shop Repair Technician/Helper. Ideal candidate will have previous Painting and Prepping experience. This is an entry level position and selected candidate will be expected to train on the job. Applicants must be proficient at reading and understanding repair estimates and be able to do assigned work in allotted time. Heavy duty truck repair experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities

  • Run shop equipment as needed including forklifts, floor scrubber and steam cleaner

  • Frequent climbing in and out of vehicle and up and down may be required.

  • General shop clean up help including janitorial, moving materials and light mechanical work; assist technicians as needed with a can-do attitude.

  • Communicate directly and effectively with shop management. Problem solve as a team.

  • Use good judgment to maintain a safe & organized work environment.

  • Apply knowledge and work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other rules and regulations as required.

  • Prompt daily attendance on scheduled work days.

  • Other general shop duties as assigned.

Job Requirements, Education and Experience

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Prefer one year or related equivalent of repair shop experience. 

Tooling required: None for the entry level helper position

Skills that are representative of the job: Mechanical aptitude. Preferred skills, but not required, include welding, cutting, fabrication, hydraulic installation, electrical troubleshooting and other repairs related to heavy trucks. General PC knowledge and skills. Must be professional and safety minded at all times. Excellent communication both verbal and written, listening skills. Good customer service skills and conflict resolution skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Other: Must have valid driver's license and be insurable.

Additional Information


Physical: (These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.) Working in, under, and around trucks and trailers. Ability to lift, push or pull, objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 75 pounds). Safely walk, reach, bend, climb, push, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the essential job duties. Ladder climbing. Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on concrete floors.

Environmental: Primarily indoors with some outdoor work if needed, work on heights with exposure to dust, fumes, and high noise. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Coveralls, ear and eye protection provided.

Hours: Must be available to work Monday through Friday, dayshift.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
