We are currently seeking a Cost Analyst to join our dynamic team supporting a major telecommunications infrastructure project.
Job Summary
The Cost Analyst supports the Project Controls Manager, gathers data and conducts analysis with the goal of improving the organization's overall operations. The position includes work in financial cost analysis, reporting and cost accounting. The candidate must be able to construct, validate and monitor data for financial reporting; perform variance analysis between actual and standard costs; review and analyze margins and prepare reports for delivery to leadership and the client. The ability to articulate trends and review productivity analysis is critical. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable validating cost activity in support of monthly financial close outs and have an understanding of accounting principles.
Supporting the Project Controls Manager as required to ensure accurate and timely cost analytics;
Planning, studying and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as material purchases, inventory and labor;
Analyzing data collected and recording results;
Analyzing changes in product delivery, materials utilization, production methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost;
Analyzing actual delivery and production costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs;
Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures;
Analyzing data in support of audit requests and preparing reports;
Assisting in month end close processes
Reconciles finished goods inventories;
Assemble data, analyze performance, identify trends and develop recommendations to support Project Management planning and operations.
Must have a strong cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles;
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel along with the ability to use Outlook, PowerPoint and Word;
Experience with Oracle;
Experience working with engineering and construction personnel on development and analysis of cost standards;
?Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports;
Analytical mind with business acumen;
Problem solving aptitude;
Attention to detail;
Excellent communications skills and organizational ability;
Proven history of working in a cross-functional environment providing accurate data to team members to ensure forecasted project compliance and reporting;
Must be self-motivated with a proactive approach to working with diverse teams
MasTec prefers, but does not require, that candidates have experience in the local area;
BS in Accounting or Finance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
